The Men with the Magic Fingers

Description

At the dawn of the 1900s, a man who runs a circus makes a wax figure of a fortune teller and becomes obsessed with what he created. Trapped in her husband's fantasy world, his wife starts to wonder if he has lost his mind.

Talented carnival owner Jack Youngblood fabricates a lifelike female doll that, aided by the newly invented phonograph, can predict his customers’ futures. The doll, Leonora, becomes the star of the carnival, replacing Jack’s wife, Piety. Then suddenly, Leonora becomes alive and Jack falls in love with her, much to the consternation of Piety, who threatens to kill them both.

A turn-of the-century tale of romance and tragedy where a circus owner sculpts a fortune teller out of wax and falls in love with his own creation. Held captive in his world of make-believe, his poor wife has no other recourse but to question his sanity.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
