The Missouri Kid

Description

This true story follows the real investigation into a Pinkerton detective's murder, as his brother and a fellow detective work to catch the bank robbers who killed him and bring them to trial.

Based on a real-life incident, this is the true tale of the investigation of the murder of a Pinkerton detective by his brother and another detective as they strive to bring the responsible bank robbers to court.

A Pinkerton detective attempts to apprehend, in the early 1900s, Missouri’s most-wanted criminal. Rudy Randolph, also known as “The Missouri Kid,” robbed the Union, Missouri, bank of $28,000. C.J., the detective, tracks The Kid to his sister Nellie’s place, identifies him, and later returns with a posse. In the ensuing gunfight, C.J. is wounded and then killed in cold blood by The Kid. His brother vows to shoot the murderer on sight, but is reminded that Pinkerton men always observe the law in their pursuit of criminals.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
