The Ninth Volume

Description

While drilling for oil on the western slopes of the Rocky Mountains in the year 1998, geologist John Perk is amazed by the reddish dust drawn up from 19,967 feet. When it reaches the earth’s surface, the dust evaporates. Reaching through caves the spot where the drilling stopped, Perk is even more astonished by what he sees: a modern house encased in rock with bedrooms, bathroom, books, even a TV set, all of which he figures must be over 12 billion years old.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
