The Odyssey of Laura Collins

Description

Laura Collins, still mentally scarred by her boyfriend’s sudden decision to call off their wedding six months ago, coolly tells her mother she is going to kill herself. Alarmed, Mrs. Collins rushes to psychiatrist Dr. Wade, who hypnotizes Laura and tells her that she must “express herself.” But the next day, when Laura mysteriously lapses into a coma and Mrs. Collins starts receiving phone calls from a woman in New York who claims to be Laura, Dr. Wade becomes convinced that the young woman is experiencing a form of mind-travel.

A woman gets hypnotized to help with her deep sadness, but then she won't wake up and her spirit roams around New York City while her mother cries with worry.

After undergoing hypnotism to cure her severe melancholia, a woman suddenly falls into a coma and finds her spirit wandering the streets of New York, even as her mother is beside herself with grief.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
