The Onyx Eye

Description

Unemployed, deeply in debt, his wife expecting, Jack Evens uses his last few dollars to buy his wife, Cathy, a birthday present: a chunk of onyx that looks like an eye, the seller of which says will bring both Jack and Cathy much good luck. Miraculously, Jack gets a better job than he ever imagines and wins the next state lottery. Nevertheless, Cathy insists that her husband get rid of the onyx eye. She becomes even more adamant when she loses her child.

After purchasing a strange curio at an antique store, a man and his wife are immediately blessed with good fortune. However, when their child perishes soon after, the woman begins to suspect that a great evil surrounds the supposed lucky charm.

A couple buys a mysterious old object from an antique shop and suddenly starts having amazing luck. But when their child dies shortly afterward, the wife starts to think the so-called good luck charm might actually be cursed with something terrible.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
