The Phantom House
Description
At the start of the 1900s, two young sisters visit their aunt and uncle's home in rural Virginia for the summer. One sister keeps seeing visions of a house that was destroyed over 50 years ago and fights to avoid getting trapped by its deadly curse.
While visiting their uncle, Judge Thurmond, Mary Ann and Betty Lou Stacey sight a house under Tully Ridge, but nervously the judge claims there is no house there. Still, Mary Ann, who can’t find anyone who will discuss the house and its occupants with her, is drawn to the site, which she soon realizes explains how her “adopted” cousin, Bridge, came to live with the judge. Bridge, too, tries to uncover the true story, until he learns it may lead to Mary Ann’s death.
Two young sisters spend the summer with their aunt and uncle in the Virginia countryside at the turn of the century. One sister sees the image of a house destroyed more than 50 years before and struggles against becoming part of its terrible curse.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
