The Poisoned Pen

Description

Playwright Joseph Carroway, nightclub owner Frank Clancy and Sebastian Proudfoot, aide to theatrical agent Barney Hogarth, die within seconds after sealing a self-addressed envelope, the anonymous sender of which has offered each $50,000 for past courtesies. Autopsies reveal that each has died from a poison called urcurare. The police learn that each had dealt with a young, beautiful woman named Selina, who had come to New York hoping to make it big in show business.

After receiving a mysterious message, several people die unexpectedly, and the one thing they all have in common is that they each made fun of a small-time actress.

When a group of people suddenly perish under after getting a strange missive, the thing that ties their circumstances together is that they each ridiculed a two-bit actress.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
