The Pretend Person

Description

A woman healing from heart surgery creates make-believe companions who help her deal with the many problems troubling her life.

A woman recovering from open heart surgery has imaginary friends who help her face the multiple crises she is confronted with in her life.

A woman near death after open heart surgery gets little sympathy from her family, but lots from someone only she can see. The woman is visited in the hospital by her mother, father, brother and husband, none of whom seem to know what to say about her postoperative condition. Her employer telephones frequently, only to ask when she expects to return to work. But when she is alone, the woman has another visitor, a friend no one else can see. Only she knows why this friend has become such an important part of her life.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
