The Public Avenger

Because secretary Rose Ellenbogen cannot understand Stuart Haskins’ apathy toward the persistent harassment of their boss, she discusses his behavior pattern with her psychology professor. Rose is shocked when the professor theorizes that Haskins may be the killer who has baffled the authorities by assassinating only well-known criminals. Only when Haskins is unable to account for his whereabouts at the time another gangster is murdered does Rose begin to believe he may in fact be a public avenger.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
