The Rape of the Maia

Description

A notorious gambler turns up dead and all evidence point towards a famous couturier. In order to get an acquittal, his lawyer must do battle with a wily bookie.

A well-known gambler is found murdered and all clues lead to a celebrated fashion designer. To prove his client's innocence, the defense attorney must outsmart a cunning betting operator.

Dress designer Vaughn Lamere vows to kill Perry Fullerton, who stole one of his designs and sold it for $500 to pay his bookie. When Fullerton's bookie accidentally kills him, Lamere arrives, faints at the blood, and wakes up holding the knife. Even his friend Morris Goodman can't convince him he wasn't the murderer.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
