Description
A small-town cop gets suspicious when people who stand to inherit $2 million worth of diamonds start vanishing one by one. The only folks who can give him the answers he needs are the gypsies living nearby.
Joseph Millbourn, who made his fortune in diamonds from land in Brazil stolen from gypsies, leaves his estate to his two nieces—Beatrice and Margaret—his nephew Clifford and his right-hand man, Jose Silva. During the sea voyage back home from Brazil, Margaret dies from an unknown poison and Clifford’s body is found in a funeral pyre in Brazil. This leaves Jose, whose whereabouts are unknown, and Beatrice, whose husband, Dwight, fears she will be the next to die.
A local detective's suspicions arise when heirs to a $2 million fortune in diamonds disappear one after the other. Only the gypsies residing in the area can provide him with the answers he seeks.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
