The famous detective Sherlock Holmes gets pulled into a hidden group's dark world when theft and betrayal strike. Even after the secret organization falls apart, its awful secrets keep tormenting the men and women who were once part of it.
Since her father disappeared, Mary Morstan has mysteriously received a valuable pearl on each birthday. Finally she is called by her benefactor, Thaddeus Sholto, who explains her father's death and her inheritance of a chest of jewels. But before Mary can claim her fortune, Thaddeus' brother is murdered and the jewels are stolen. Holmes and Watson disagree with Scotland Yard that Thaddeus did it, and they set out to find the real culprit and the jewels for Mary, whom Watson now wants to marry.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
