The Silent Woman

Description

A woman goes into a silence for 27 years after being forced into a marriage against her wishes.

A woman stops speaking for 27 years after her family makes her marry a man she doesn't want to wed.

Within moments after her marriage to a prosperous young merchant, Veile Komar becomes silent. She says not a word to her husband on their wedding night, during the births of her two children, nor even during the marriage of her daughter. Her friends and relatives are convinced she is under some kind of evil spell. Only her Rabbi knows the real reason, and he is pledged to secrecy until after Veile dies.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
