Description

A police detective's girlfriend gets caught up in a terrorist kidnapping after she accidentally picks up a ringing pay phone on the street.

The lover of a police detective becomes involved in a terrorist kidnapping when she unwittingly answers a call in a public pay phone.

While returning from a day in the country with his girlfriend, Betsy Grant, police Sgt. Ed Ritter is ordered, over his car’s radio, to proceed at once to his precinct headquarters—an Arabian ambassador to the United Nations has been kidnapped. Betsy volunteers to take a bus to her apartment. While waiting for one to arrive, she hears a public phone ringing. She answers it, setting off for her a chain of very terrifying events.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
