The Strange Case of Lucas Lauder
Description
Guy Richards, a respected university professor, has admitted to the brutal knife murders of four women. Now about to die, he tells Warden Lucas Lauder that when he is executed the evil spirit of Jack-the-Ripper will be passed on to the warden just as it was passed on to him. Lauder, though convinced Richards is insane, starts toying with a carving knife that very night and even—for reasons he cannot explain—threatens his wife.
A man sentenced to death informs a prison guard that he was Jack the Ripper in a previous life and that after his death, Ripper's soul will possess him and he will murder his wife.
A condemned prisoner tells his guard that Jack the Ripper's spirit lived in him before, and when he dies, the killer's ghost will take over the guard's body to murder the guard's wife.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
