The Sweet Smell of Murder
Description
A charter boat captain's wife teams up with a police detective to clear her husband's name after he gets caught with stolen money.
The wife of a charter boat captain works closely with a police investigator to prove her husband's innocence when he is caught red-handed with stolen wealth.
Thomas Taylor Granby, a retired chauffeur, buys his wife, whom he calls Momma, a cashmere coat she’s always wanted and a $42,000 ship-to-shore radio for their aging powerboat. Next thing Momma knows, her husband is in jail, accused of stealing $30,000. First, he said he won the money in a lottery, then that he had found it in a shopping bag on their dock. He has never lied to his wife before, but the police, figuring the case closed, point out there’s always a first time.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
