The Transformer

Description

A salesman casually complains about his boss to an old army friend, then his supervisor winds up murdered. It turns out his buddy is a killer for hire who decided to eliminate the boss blocking his pal's career. When cops discover the salesman had reasons to want his boss dead, they show up at his house with questions.

Roger Wilson and his wife Dolly meet Roger's Korean War buddy "Chappie" Chapman for dinner. Shortly after, a Chicago gangster is killed. When Roger mentions he can't be promoted until his boss dies, the boss is found dead. More men in Roger's way are killed, making him wonder if Chappie has become a professional "transformer." The police suspect Roger.

After making a careless remark to an old war buddy, a salesman's immediate supervisor turns up dead. Apparently, his friend is a professional hit man who merely helped get rid of the boss hindering his progress. The police come knocking on his door when they realize he has a motive for murder.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
