Trilby
Description
A cocky mind-controller makes a sad young woman into a famous singer. But when she's not hypnotized, she can't sing and doesn't remember being on stage. Will being a star be enough to make up for her broken life?
While Trilby is modeling for some painters, she gets a migraine headache which a man named Svengali relieves by putting her in a trance. Then Trilby is fine, until years later she again needs him to cure her. But this time, when Svengali hypnotizes her, he makes her into a marvelous singer. Then, Trilby's future depends on Svengali, who suddenly drops dead on stage, leaving her unable to sing and uncertain of her identity and the origin of the bruises on her body.
An arrogant hypnotist turns a depressed young woman into a popular singer. But she cannot sing nor remember her performances while she is not under the spell. Can fame remain the sole compensation for her fragmented life?
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
