You Bet Your Life

Description

When Doug Hart loses his job, just as his wife Liz is about to have their first child, he heads to the racetrack with their savings. For four weeks he is able to “make a living” by betting on the favorites, but his luck soon changes. As Liz is rushed to the maternity ward, Doug makes a big bet he can’t cover—he knows he has to win because he has bet his life.

An expectant father with gambling problem swears off his addiction after suffering a particularly heavy loss. However, when he loses his job, he returns to the race-track and tries to earn a living by outwitting and outplaying lady luck.

A man expecting a baby has a gambling addiction and promises to quit after losing big. But when he gets fired from work, he goes back to betting on horse races, trying to make money by beating the odds.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
