In a small American town, lonely dreamer Ernie Mendenhall dreams of romance with beautiful Ala Vintron, a girl he sees at a party. His fantasies make him feel more alone, so he decides to talk to her. Meanwhile, Winner Wedderburn gets curious about a dangerous orchid that almost kills him. Both men discover tough truths about wanting things and facing reality.
