Friday

Description

"Never leave port on a Friday." One shipowner declares that to be a meaningless superstition. He builds his own ship, starting on a Friday, christens it on a Friday and hires Captain Friday to be her master. Ivor Francis has the perfect voice for an English merchant in a port city in the 1860's.

A ship owner says the old saying "Never leave port on a Friday" is just silly nonsense. To prove his point, he builds a new ship starting on a Friday, names it on a Friday, and puts Captain Friday in charge. Ivor Francis sounds exactly right as an English businessman in a harbor town during the 1860s.

Suspense is a state of anxiety or excitement caused by mysteriousness, uncertainty, doubt, or undecidedness. In a narrative work, suspense is the audience's excited anticipation about the plot or conflict, particularly as it affects a character for whom the audience feels sympathy. However, suspense is not exclusive to narratives.
