A Table for Two

Description

The theft of a wealthy patron's jewels brings a police lieutenant to the Cafe Tremblay in New York. The maître d' is caught between his old criminal cellmate and his wife, who wants him to return to engineering school.

A police lieutenant investigates stolen jewels from a rich customer at Cafe Tremblay in New York. The head waiter must choose between helping his former prison buddy and listening to his wife, who wants him to go back to school to become an engineer.

Henri de la Tour, the maitre d’ at the fashionable Cafe Tremblay, is really Henry Smith, a reformed ex-con with a well-hidden past. One day Henri’s old cell mate, Herbie Lister, barges into the cafe and, without a reservation, insists on being served. Henri complies, but Herbie wants more. Unless Henri agrees to help him burglarize the homes of the cafe’s wealthiest patrons, Herbie will tell Henri’s boss about his past.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
