Borderline Case

Description

As the river's mist thickens, Betty Lou and Hattie search for Marianne, who is enraptured by eerie voices calling her to a mysterious house that wasn't there before. The house looms ominously, showing its secrets and drawing forth the pasts of Judge Thurman and his housekeeper Bridge.

When the flamboyant Mrs. Tottenham arrives at a quiet upstate New York hotel, the desk clerk, Janie, daughter of the local sheriff, is entranced by the grey pearl—the Star of Dehli—she wears. Janie is frightened by her own desire to possess the jewel, which for 100 years has meant death to its owner. But when Mrs. Tottenham turns up dead and minus the jewel, Janie tries to help her father solve the case before the new owner is killed, too.

When fog rolls in from the river, Betty Lou and Hattie hunt for Marianne, who hears strange voices pulling her toward a spooky house that appeared out of nowhere. The dark house reveals hidden secrets about Judge Thurman and his housekeeper Bridge from long ago.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
