Description

This tense drama shows how a man's inner turmoil can disrupt the lives of others. Chester Jones, who has just lost his job, takes a bank teller hostage and demands recognition for his past work. He must face his real fears and ultimately save his marriage before he can give up his desperate act.

A troubled man's personal struggles threaten everyone around him in this gripping story. After getting fired, Chester Jones holds a bank worker captive and wants people to acknowledge what he accomplished before. He needs to confront what really scares him and rescue his marriage if he hopes to end his dangerous scheme.

Chester Jones, fired after 20 years as chief engineer at Trowbridge Industries and deeply in debt, hears a police siren as he points a gun at the head of bank teller Joanna Butler. He orders all other bank employees and customers out, but keeps Joanna as a hostage, threatening to kill her if the police try to storm the building. When his demand that Trowbridge rehire him is met, he still refuses to release Joanna who, after a while, begins to understand what he really wants.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
