Description
In the dim parlor of a Martha's Vineyard cottage, Mrs. Marsden and her daughter Charlotte wrestle with the secret of a ghost that haunts them both. David, the girl's suitor, is drawn into the dark mystery, but at last, Mrs. Marsden, forced to confront her past, confesses to jiltng the ghostly Orme, and frees her daughter.
In a dark living room of a cottage on Martha's Vineyard, Mrs. Marsden and her daughter Charlotte struggle with a ghost's secret that troubles them both. David, the young man who wants to marry Charlotte, gets pulled into this scary mystery. Finally, Mrs. Marsden must face what she did long ago and admits she broke her promise to marry the ghost named Orme, which sets her daughter free.
Ann Marsden is haunted by the ghost of Sir Edmund Orme, a man she jilted years ago. The ghost also appears to suitors of her daughter Charlotte. Young David Delano attempts to propose to Charlotte with Mrs. Marsden's approval, but every time he is about to express his love to Charlotte, he sees the ghost, his eyes glaze over, and he loses his wits.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
