Hidden Memory
Description
A young soldier returns from war and uses drugs to remember a painful childhood event that has haunted him for years, finally learning what really happened when his father vanished and why his mother kept the truth hidden.
The persistence of memory in a troubled American family is illuminated when a young war veteran, under narcosis, relives a childhood trauma that had long crippled him and kept his mother from showing the truth about his father’s disappearance.
Sodium amyl, taken to relive the traumatic moment that cost Evan the use of his legs, totally cures his paralysis. But the medication also leaves him with a remarkable side effect: Evan now has total recall not only of his own past but that of his strange family as well.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
