Obsession

Description

A writer who creates murder stories sees a vision that he will commit a terrible crime. He begs to be locked up in jail to stop this from happening. His longtime friend, who runs the police, thinks this sounds crazy and won't listen. In the end, the writer does exactly what he feared and breaks the law!

After foreseeing his involvement in a heinous crime, a murder mystery author demands that he be incarcerated to escape his fate. Dismissing his claims as absurd, his old friend and police chief ignores his pleas and he ends up committing a felony!

Emmett O’Hara pleads with his longtime friend, police chief David Chase, to put him in jail. If he doesn’t, O’Hara is sure he’ll commit a perfect—and horrible—crime. Chase refuses and urges his friend to see a psychiatrist about his obsession. But it’s not long before the chief realizes he has made a big mistake: He should have locked O’Hara up and thrown away the key.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
