The Imposter

A woman gets help from a dead actor's ghost to write a complete play, even though she knows nothing about theater. When she tries to claim she wrote the whole thing herself, the ghost gets angry and demands his name go on the show instead of hers. On the night the play opens, the woman tells everyone who really wrote the hit show.

A woman, with the ghostly assistance of an actor long gone is inspired to write a full-length play despite having no theatrical experience whatsoever. When she tries to take full credit for the story, the real author's spirit asserts himself and demands that her name be pulled from the marquee. On opening night, the woman reveals the identity of the true writer of the successful show.

After a first reading of the script, Ted Harris and Norman Gelb decide to produce a play written by an unknown playwright, Kay Mehaffey. Certain it is going to be a blockbuster, the producers hire a top-name cast and director. But on opening night, Kay wants to cancel the whole thing because she fears that the real author—an actor who has been dead for 50 years but has been communicating spiritually with her—is trying to kill her.
