Description
The first program of the new series is introduced by Betty Grable, who explains that the show is designed to entertain the U.S. Army and Navy overseas. She playfully refers to her appearance as a "blind date" with the servicemen. Then come the Four Jacks and a Jill, Eddie Cantor, Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra.
Betty Grable kicks off the new show by telling viewers it's made to entertain American soldiers and sailors serving far from home. She jokes that her being on screen is like going on a "blind date" with the military men. After that, the Four Jacks and a Jill perform, followed by Eddie Cantor, Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra.
Command Performance was a radio program which originally aired between 1942 and 1949. The program was broadcast on the Armed Forces Radio Network (AFRS) and transmitted by shortwave to overseas troops — but with few exceptions, it was not broadcast over domestic U.S. radio stations.
