Description

John Garfield takes over as host after Ken Carpenter brings him on, and he makes jokes about how he doesn't care for women. Ginny Simms performs "Saturday Night is the Loneliest Night," while Dick Haymes sings "Paper Moon" specially for Colonel Elliott. Phil Spitalny's Orchestra plays a mix of songs for the soldiers. Danny Thomas does a funny bit about romance using letters of the alphabet. The program wraps up with Garfield and Simms giving their farewells.

Command Performance was a radio program which originally aired between 1942 and 1949. The program was broadcast on the Armed Forces Radio Network (AFRS) and transmitted by shortwave to overseas troops — but with few exceptions, it was not broadcast over domestic U.S. radio stations.
