Description

Stella Merchant is expecting her baby shortly. Captain Quince is left in charge of the garrison. He becomes a midwife with the help of Sergeant Gorce.

The soldiers at the fort are excited because Trooper Merchant's wife is finally having her baby, making everyone feel festive. But Stella is stuck inside waiting to give birth, and her worried husband makes things stressful for everyone. Quince and the other soldiers try to keep everyone's spirits up. George Walsh, a CBS news reporter working out west, tells about what life is like at Fort Laramie.

Fort Laramie is a CBS Radio Western series starring Raymond Burr as Captain Lee Quince. It aired Sunday afternoons January 22–October 28, 1956, at 5:30 pm ET. Produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, this Western drama depicted life at old Fort Laramie during the 19th Century. The 41 episodes starred Raymond Burr as Lee Quince, captain of the cavalry. One year later, Burr became a television star as Perry Mason.
