Description

Captain Quince deals with a strange sickness hitting soldiers at Fort Laramie that makes them tired and unable to work. Thinking the men might be bored or unhappy, Quince looks into the problem and finds that canned food supplies have disappeared. When he discovers food with wrong labels, he figures out what's making everyone sick and comes up with a way to fix things and get the soldiers healthy again.

There are fifty-nine men are down with scurvy, and are no fresh fruits or vegetables anywhere on the prairie.

At Fort Laramie, Captain Quince faces a mysterious illness sweeping through the troops, leaving many exhausted and unfit for duty. Suspecting boredom or morale issues, Quince investigates, finding that shipments of canned goods have gone missing. The discovery of mislabeled food hints at the cause, leading to a plan to restore order and health.

Fort Laramie is a CBS Radio Western series starring Raymond Burr as Captain Lee Quince. It aired Sunday afternoons January 22–October 28, 1956, at 5:30 pm ET. Produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, this Western drama depicted life at old Fort Laramie during the 19th Century. The 41 episodes starred Raymond Burr as Lee Quince, captain of the cavalry. One year later, Burr became a television star as Perry Mason.
