Description

The peaceful Shoshone Indians are attacked by a fanatical army major. The program was recorded July 12, 1956.

Captain Lee Quince rides to a Shoshone camp to talk peace with their chief, White Dog. They agree to travel together, but a coyote's howl spooks the Shoshone, stirring old fears. Despite the warning, Quince urges the Shoshone to trust him and move to their new home. In the end, the Shoshone's ancient beliefs clash with the soldiers' mission of peace.

Captain Lee Quince goes to meet White Dog, the Shoshone chief, at their camp to make peace. The two men decide to travel together, but when a coyote howls, it scares the Shoshone and brings back old worries. Even though there are bad signs, Quince asks the Shoshone to believe in him and go to where they will live now. The old ways of the Shoshone people fight against what the soldiers want to do for peace.

Fort Laramie is a CBS Radio Western series starring Raymond Burr as Captain Lee Quince. It aired Sunday afternoons January 22–October 28, 1956, at 5:30 pm ET. Produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, this Western drama depicted life at old Fort Laramie during the 19th Century. The 41 episodes starred Raymond Burr as Lee Quince, captain of the cavalry. One year later, Burr became a television star as Perry Mason.
