Captain Lee Quince watches as Lieutenant Stalker struggles to teach his wife, Hester, how to use a pistol, believing she needs it for safety on the frontier. Hester resists, thinking it's unwomanly. Meanwhile, Mrs. Mead shares her own experiences and gifts cartridges, showing Hester the harsh realities of frontier life.

Lieutenant Stalker tries to show his wife Hester how to shoot a gun because he thinks she needs to protect herself on the frontier, but Hester doesn't want to learn because she believes women shouldn't use weapons. Captain Lee Quince watches them struggle with the lesson. At the same time, Mrs. Mead tells Hester about her own tough times and gives her bullets, helping Hester understand how dangerous frontier life can be.

Fort Laramie is a CBS Radio Western series starring Raymond Burr as Captain Lee Quince. It aired Sunday afternoons January 22–October 28, 1956, at 5:30 pm ET. Produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, this Western drama depicted life at old Fort Laramie during the 19th Century. The 41 episodes starred Raymond Burr as Lee Quince, captain of the cavalry. One year later, Burr became a television star as Perry Mason.
