Clarence Dayton, a writer, visits Smoke's End and spreads a false story of local Ned Austin as a legendary gunslinger. The tale attracts the notorious Hester boys, leading to a tense showdown. Ned, supported by friends, bravely confronts them with words, proving true heroism lies in courage and truth.
Writer Clarence Dayton comes to Smoke's End and tells lies about local man Ned Austin, claiming he's a famous gunfighter. This fake story brings the dangerous Hester gang to town, setting up a deadly face-off. When the showdown happens, Ned stands up to them with his friends by his side, using words instead of guns to show that real heroes fight with bravery and honesty.
Sears Radio Theater was a radio drama anthology series which ran weeknights on CBS Radio in 1979, sponsored by the Sears chain. Often paired with The CBS Radio Mystery Theater during its first season, the program offered a different genre of drama for each evening's broadcast.
