Nineteen-year-old Dusty Lane, against his parents’ wishes, has signed a big league baseball contract with the Cougars. With a batting average of .392, he’s soon everybody’s hero. But then he’s knocked unconscious by a baseball. While in a coma, he meets a Mr. Conjureman, who says he has failed “to honor thy father and thy mother.” Furthermore, Mr. C. says, Dusty must either sign with his team, the Hellcats, or never get another major league hit.
