Lorna Burgess, whose maiden name was Campbell, takes her husband, Jed, to Scotland where her mother has just died, under circumstances Lorna had predicted. The couple settle near a church where two 1,000-year-old man-sized marble statues of Scottish knights are the main attraction. Villagers startle Jed with stories that the knights come alive once a year and kill anyone who gets in their way—just like one of them killed a woman named Lorna Campbell a thousand years ago.
