Carleton Fiske, a wealthy, confirmed bachelor of elegant taste, is made the ward of a distant relative, a scruffy 17-year-old, teenaged girl. Bascombe, Fiske's devoted manservant, is even more appalled at Gerry's arrival as he learns the police are questioning Fiske about the murders of three former girlfriends and a wealthy customer of his. When Gerry expresses her admiration for Fiske, Bascombe decides to take the situation into his own hands—literally.
