Movie queen Erika Standish kills her longtime lover, actor Tom Turner, when he orders her replaced as costar of his next film. Erika’s husband, Alan, offers to take the blame for the crime, certain he will never be convicted because of what he calls “the unwritten law,” which gives him the right to kill a man who has deceived him. But once he is jailed, Erika proclaims that Alan is the real murderer. Only a red scarf he has purchased can save him from life imprisonment.
